Ringlets and Grasses

The meadow is full of ringlets, a lovely dark brown butterfly with eye markings on the underside of it's wings.

This butterfly likes damp meadows and woodland ridings.  Their food plants are course grasses such as Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), False Brome (Brachypodium sylvaticum), Tufted Hair-grass (Deschampsia cespitosa), Common Couch (Elytrigia repens), and meadow-grasses (Poa spp.).
